Chavis reaches five times in 11-10 loss to 'Cats

Manchester, NH - New Hampshire's Richard Ureña snapped a 9-9 tie with a two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning, leading the Fisher Cats (42-60) to an 11-9 win over the Portland Sea Dogs (46-54) on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Portland rallied for a run in the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly by Cole Sturgeon, but Carlos Ramirez (2-0) fanned Mike Olt to end the game.
New Hampshire built a 5-0 lead after one inning against Elih Villanueva (ND). Tim Lopes and Harold Ramirez highlighted the frame with two-run hits.
Portland fought back, scoring the next six runs off Shane Dawson (ND). In the second, Josh Tobias and Jordan Procyshen put the 'Dogs on the board with consecutive two-out RBI hits.
In the third, Michael Chavis hit a two-run homer (#24 overall between Salem and Portland) in the third, cutting the deficit to 5-4. Chavis reached base five times with a homer, double and three walks. Later in the inning, Jake Romanski gave Portland their first lead with an RBI double.
Ramirez led off the third with a homer to tie the game at six, but Jeremy Barfield gave the Sea Dogs an 8-6 lead in the fourth, blasting a two-run homer. Barfield has 14 homers on the season, but a homer in three straight games.
New Hampshire tied the game at eight in fourth and took a 9-8 in the fifth when Matt Dean homered off Josh Smith.
Portland's Ty Buttrey (1-3) took the loss, allowing two runs over two innings pitched.
Olt and Procyshen each went 2-for-5 for Portland. The 'Dogs had an RBI from eight different players.
 
The Portland Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) wrap up their three-game series on Wednesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. LHP Henry Owens (1-3, 6.32) makes the start for Portland. RHP Sean Reid-Foley (7-7, 4.48) is on the mound for the New Hampshire. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
