Clinton, IA- The Peoria Chiefs were shutout 5-0 by the Clinton LumberKings in game two of a three-game series on Saturday night. The Chiefs drop to 31-25 overall with the series finale set for Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Clinton, IA- The Peoria Chiefs were shutout 5-0 by the Clinton LumberKings in game two of a three-game series on Saturday night. The Chiefs drop to 31-25 overall with the series finale set for Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
    The LumberKings jumped out to another early lead in the bottom of the second on Chiefs starter Johan Oviedo. Ryan Costello led off with a single and Dimas Ojeda drew a walk to put two runners on. Louis Boyd punched a one-out single to right field as Costello scored and a throwing error by Matt Fiedler put both runners in scoring position. A wild pitch with Joseph Rosa at the plate brought in Ojeda for a 2-0 lead.
    Clinton scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth without recording a hit. Rosa drew a leadoff walk and stole second base. With two outs, Jack Larsen walked to end Oviedo's outing. Andrew Summerville entered out of the bullpen and hit Johnny Adams to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Rosa and the runners moved up ninety feet as the LumberKings led 3-0. Costello walked to load the bases again and Ojeda drew a walk to plate Larsen for a 4-0 advantage. Nick Thurman also walked with the bases loaded to bring in another run as the deficit increased to 5-0.
    Oviedo (1-5) took the loss throwing 4 2/3 innings allowing three earned runs on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts. Summerville pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing one run on one hits with three walks and four strikeouts. CJ Saylor threw the remaining two innings without allowing a run on one hit with one walk and two strikeouts.
Notes… Peoria's six-game win streak snapped… The Chiefs have been shutout four times this season…Hurst's seven-game hit streak ended… Lopez has an eight-game hit streak… Peoria left 10 runners on base…The Chiefs are 4-5 on Saturday….
