Davenport, IA - Two days after taking a no-hitter into the ninth inning, the Peoria Chiefs were on the other end of a no-hit bid with their first hit coming in the eighth inning in a 5-1 loss to the Quad Cities River Bandits Monday night. The loss drops the Chiefs to 16-26 on the season and ends a two-game win streak with three games left in the series.
The River Bandits struck first in the bottom of the second against Chiefs starter Ian Oxnevad. Chuckie Robinson reached on an error by new Peoria third baseman Juan Yepez and with one out Marcos Almonte launched a long two-run homer over the left-field berm. The homer, his sixth of the season, put the Bandits on top 2-0.

Peoria did not get a hit off Quad Cities starter Cionel Pérez who entered the game with a 9.64 ERA overall and an 11.70 ERA as a starter. The Cuban native struck out a career-high 10 including five in a row at one point. The only base runner he allowed was a one-out walk to Shane Billings in the fourth inning.
Kevin Hill took over for Perez in the eighth and Stefan Trosclair greeted him with a single to end the no-hit bid. However the Chiefs couldn't take advantage of their first hit and left a runner on first base.
Oxnevad cruised through the middle innings without allowing a runner past first base after the second inning. He got the first two outs in the eighth to set a new career high in innings pitched before walking Rodrigo Ayarza. Brady Bowen took over out of the Chiefs bullpen and struck out Yordan Alvarez but strike three went to the backstop on a wild pitch allowing the inning to continue. The Bandits took advantage as Robinson doubled home both runners before scoring on a single by Ronnie Dawson for a 5-0 lead.
The Chiefs narrowly avoided their eighth shutout of the season in the top of the ninth. Jose Martinez drew a lead off walk and with one out Billings barely beat out a game-ending double play at first base. He took second on defensive indifference the Andy Young's single to right cut the Chiefs deficit to 5-1. Hill finished off the game as he struck out Andrew Knizner for Quad Cities 13th strikeout of the game.
Oxnevad (0-4) took the loss over a career-high 7 2/3 innings as he allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits. He struck out six, walked two and threw 104 pitches. Bowen allowed two runs on three hits with one strikeout and two wild pitches in 1/3 of an inning.
