Geneva, IL - The Peoria Chiefs got three hits from 2018 Cardinals draftees on Tuesday night but fell to the Kane County Cougars 11-1.

Down 2-0 the Chiefs got on the board in the fourth inning. Rayder Ascanio beat out a bunt back to the mound for a leadoff single against Mack Lemieux. Nolan Gorman clobbered a curveball into left-center for a double as Ascanio was held at third with no outs. Luken Baker's grounder to first base scored Ascanio to cut the Cougars lead to 2-1 as Gorman moved to third. Lemieux got out of the inning with consecutive strikeouts.
The Cougars broke the game open in the fifth inning as they scored four runs against the relief combination of Ben Yokley and Fabian Blanco. With a 6-1 lead they piled on in the sixth with five more runs, all charged to Blanco as Patrick Dayton closed out the inning.
Second baseman Nick Dunn, added Monday from State College, collected his second hit of the game with one out in the seventh. The 2018 5th round pick out of Maryland moved to second on the play as Tra Holmes committed an error for the Cougars in center field. But the Chiefs couldn't get another run on the board as Bryan Valdez got the last two outs in the frame.
Zach Prendergast took the loss despite allowing just two runs over four innings. The right-hander struck out six and walked one. Yokley allowed four runs on two hits and two walks in 2/3 of an inning. Blanco allowed five runs on four hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning. Dayton threw two shutout innings and struck out two while allowing two hits. Kodi Whitley induced a double play and allowed one hit over one shutout inning.
