Bowling Green, KY - The Peoria Chiefs scored five runs in the eighth inning to break open a tie game in a 10-5 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods Sunday afternoon. The Chiefs are now 17-13 in the second half and 47-52 overall with one game left on the road trip.

The Chiefs used the long ball to jump out to an early lead against righty Adrian Navas. Kramer Robertson led off the game with a single and birthday boy Stefan Trosclair clubbed a two-run homer off the batters eye in center field for a 2-0 lead. The homer was the eighth of the season for Trosclair, the fifth Chiefs player this season to reach the milestone.
Two innings later Trosclair drilled an opposite field homer over the Chiefs bullpen for a 3-0 lead. In the fourth inning the Chiefs got their third homer of the game as Danny Hudzina hit his sixth of the year for a 4-0 lead.
Bowling Green rallied against Chiefs lefty Ian Oxnevad in the fifth as the first six batters reached. Michael Brosseau hit a three-run homer and the next batter, Adrian Rondon tied the game with a solo shot. With two on and nobody out, Oxnevad got out of the inning with the game still tied. In the sixth the Hot Rods took the lead on a pair of walks and a single from Rondon.
The Chiefs tied the game on a bizarre double play in the seventh against reliever Deivy Mendez. Dylan Carlson and Nick Plummer both drew walks to put two on with nobody out. With one down, Kramer Robertson hit a grounder up the middle that Brosseau stopped with a dive to his right. He flipped the ball to second and shortstop Miles Mastrobuoni barehanded the ball to force out Plummer but he threw wild to first base. Carlson rounded third and scored to tie the game just before Robertson was thrown out at second base to end the inning.
Peoria broke the game open in the eighth against Mendez. Vince Jackson walked with one out and Brian O'Keefe drew a walk. Jesus Yepez doubled home Jackson for a 6-5 lead and Hudzina put the Chiefs on top by three with a double to left-center. Carlson reached on an infield single and Hudzina scored on a wild pitch for a 9-5 Chiefs lead. Mick Fennell capped the scoring with a single to right for a five-run frame and a 10-5 Chiefs lead.
Oxnevad allowed five runs on nine hits over six innings in his third straight no-decision. He walked two, struck out one and allowed a home run. Dobzanski (2-5) earned the win as he allowed two hits over three shutout innings while striking out two.
