Chihuahuas Hit Back-to-Back Homers in Wednesday Loss

The El Paso Chihuahuas scored twice in the first inning Wednesday afternoon but allowed 14 unanswered runs to the Round Rock Express and lost 14-2. The Express have won the first two games of the series.

Bryce Johnson and Samad Taylor hit back-to-back home runs to begin the bottom of the first inning. It was El Paso's first set of back-to-back homers since Nick Schnell and Marcos Castañon on May 30 at Albuquerque. Johnson became the first Chihuahua since Dustin Harris on July 30 to lead off a first inning with a homer. Castañon went 2-for-4 with a double and has four consecutive multi-hit games.

Gage Workman started in right field Wednesday and has played four positions in his first six games with El Paso. Round Rock starter Dalton Pence matched his career high by pitching six innings. Express third baseman Cam Cauley went 4-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs. El Paso has dropped five straight games.
