The El Paso Chihuahuas scored six runs in the top of the 14th inning and beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 13-10 Saturday night and into Sunday morning. It set new Chihuahuas team records for most innings and longest time of game. The two clubs tied the Pacific Coast League record for total players used with 40, a mark that had been met only three times previously in the PCL's 114-year history.
The teams combined to use 19 different pitchers, which set a new league record, while Albuquerque became the first team in PCL history to use 10 pitchers in one game. The five hour 35 minute game was also the longest in Isotopes history, a club that has been in existence since 2003. There were 43 hits in the game.
The 14-inning affair was the most innings in a game involving the Padres Triple-A affiliate since May 8, 2012 when the Tucson Padres lost in 16 innings at New Orleans.
