Christian Walker Wins Fourth Career Rawlings Gold Glove Award

FREDERICK, MD – 2013 Frederick Keys first baseman Christian Walker earned his fourth career Rawlings Gold Glove Award on Sunday, winning his first one as a member of the American League with the Houston Astros.

Walker finished the 2026 season leading the American League in fielding percentage as he posted a 99.7% at first base, trailing only Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman for the best fielding percentage in all of Major League Baseball at 99.9%.

During 154 games at first base this past season, he committed only three errors in nearly 1,300 innings and finished with his highest fielding percentage mark since he had a 99.8 fielding percentage in 2024. This is his first Gold Glove Award title since he won the award three straight times from 2022-2024 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fielding over at first base is nothing new for Walker as he played the position in 569 career games in the Minor Leagues before being called up to the big leagues by the Baltimore Orioles back in 2014. Since he’s been in the majors, he has appeared in over 1,000 games at first base while spending time in the designated hitter spot over his 12-year Major League career.

While with Frederick in 2013, Walker played in 55 games and hit at a .288 average with eight home runs and 35 RBIs. Additionally, the Norristown, Pennsylvania native spent 52 games at first base and recorded a 99.4% fielding percentage across 445 innings of work.

The Frederick Keys begin their 2026 season on Friday, April 2 when they host the Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets) at 7 p.m. from Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. Ticket packages and group events are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting Frederickkeys.com.
