Clinton, IA (June 27, 2018) - Home runs from Ryan Costello, Keegan McGovern, and Johnny Adams were all the Clinton LumberKings needed in a 4-1 win over the Burlington Bees on Wednesday night at Ashford University Field. Clay Chandler turned in a quality start for the LumberKings (5-2, 44-33) who took their second straight series to open the second half.   
Chandler (4-1) earned his fourth win of the season with a six-inning performance against the Bees (1-6, 31-45). He allowed held Burlington to one run while allowing just two hits and walking three.
Clinton scored the game's first runs in the bottom of the fourth. Ryan Costello led the inning off with a home run into the Lumber Lounge in right for his Midwest League leading 14th home run of the season. Two batters later, Keegan McGovern took Bees starter Mitchell Traver deep again with a home run to straight away center field for his second home run of the season.
Traver (5-6) took the loss for the Bees, his second of the year against Clinton. Over his 4.2 inning outing he allowed two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out two.
The Bees then answered the LumberKings run with their only tally of the night in the top of the fifth inning. Keinner Piña singled to open the inning and moved to third on a combination walk, and LumberKings throwing error. Connor Fitzsimmons drove home Pina with a sacrifice fly to right that cut Clinton's lead to one.
In the bottom of the sixth the LumberKings added to their lead with Johnny Adams sixth home run of the year. Following a leadoff double by Dimas Ojeda, Adams lined a homer to the opposite field in right for his second home run in as many days.  
Marvin Gorgas replaced Chandler on the mound and turned in two shutout innings of relief to earn his second hold of the season.
Sam Delaplane picked up his fourth save of the season with three strikeouts in the ninth inning.
The LumberKings will now begin a six-game road trip starting with the first of four-games with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Thursday night. Clinton will give the ball to left-handed pitcher Ray Kerr (3-6, 3.62) while the Timber Rattlers will tap righty Nelson Hernandez (7-5, 4.92). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
