Curve fall to SeaWolves, 7-4, for seventh straight loss

ERIE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve lost for the seventh straight day, falling to the Erie SeaWolves, 7-4, on Sunday night at UPMC Park.

The Curve (40-39) have dropped seven straight games for the first time since a seven-game skid from July 15-21, 2016. The SeaWolves (40-41) picked up their first series victory against Altoona since April 2016, a span of nine consecutive series wins for the Curve.
The SeaWolves struck against Curve starter Cody Dickson (Loss, 0-2) in the first inning. After back-to-back walks to open the frame, Dominic Ficociello hit a two-run double to open the scoring.
The Curve evened the score in the top of the third inning with a two-run homer by Logan Hill, the first of his Double-A career.

Erie answered in the bottom of the inning with a two-run, opposite-field homer by Ficociello, putting the SeaWolves ahead, 4-2.
Miguel Gonzalez and Kody Eaves hit back-to-back solo homers against Dickson in the fourth to stretch the Erie lead to 6-2.
Altoona cut into the deficit in the seventh with a two-out, two-run double by Jerrick Suiter, closing the gap to 6-4.
Christin Stewart hit a solo homer in the seventh, the fourth home run of the game for the SeaWolves, moving the lead back to three runs.
Hill went 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Dickson pitched four innings and allowed six runs on five hits and four walks. Luis Heredia pitched three innings and allowed one run on one hit, the homer by Stewart, working around four walks with two strikeouts. Jake Brentz struck out two in his scoreless bottom of the eighth.
The Curve have been outscored 52-15 during the losing streak. The pitching staff has combined for a 7.71 ERA, and the offense is averaging just 1.9 runs per game.
The Curve wrap up the road trip with the series finale on Monday night in Erie. Right-hander Austin Coley (1-2, 3.01) is scheduled to start for the Curve, opposed by Erie lefty Matt Crouse (4-1, 4.59). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at UPMC Park.
The Curve return to Peoples Natural Gas Field for their last homestand before the all-star break on Tuesday with an Independence Day Fireworks celebration as the team faces the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The series continues with a performance by BirdZerk next Wednesday, and it wraps up next Thursday with an appearance and performance by the ZOOperstars.
