Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Altoona Curve (37-28) defeated the Somerset Patriots (40-27) 9-6 on Wednesday evening at TD Bank Ballpark.

The scoring started early with a pair of two-run homers by Altoona’s Mason Martin (18) and Somerset’s Brandon Lockridge (3) in the first inning.

Arden Pabst regained the lead with a home run (5) in the third before Jesus Bastidas singled in the tying run in his home debut.

The Curve broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning, highlighted by RBI base hits by Ji-hwan Bae and Canaan Smith-Njigba, as well as a two-run single by Daniel Amaral.

Somerset scored on a wild pitch and Diego Castillo stole home for two runs in the seventh.

Isiah Gilliam crushed a home run (5) to deep center for the final run. He finished the game 3-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Trey McGough (W, 2-2) picked up the win with a five-inning performance in which he allowed three earned runs on six hits and five strikeouts.JP Sears (L, 3-1) suffered the loss after he allowed seven earned runs on six hits in four innings pitched.

The Patriots and Curve continue the series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm at TD Bank Ballpark.
