Hickory, NC- The Crawdads scored the game’s final twelve runs, claiming a 12-5 come-from-behind win over the Delmarva Shorebirds on Tuesday night at LP Frans Stadium.

The Crawdads would bang out sixteen hits in the contest, as Kolby Branch and Pablo Guerrero accounted for four hits each to pace the Hickory offense.

Delmarva jumped out to a 5-0 lead going to the bottom of the fourth, as Daniel Flames got Hickory on the board with an RBI single to left field that scored Deward Tovar.

However, the single run was simply the appetizer, as the Crawdads erupted for crooked numbers in the next three times at bat.

Guerrero got the good vibes going with a three-run homer to left-center field that trimmed the Delmarva lead to 5-4.

Later in the inning, Sebastian Baquera put the 'Dads ahead for good with a high bounding single over Delmarva's drawn-in infield, scoring Tovar and Paulino Santana for a 7-5 advantage.

In the sixth, Kaden Carpenter hit a mammoth blast deep into the Catawba County night to double up the Shorebirds 10-5. The three-run blast was his fourth of the year and his second at the Frans.

In the seventh, the Crawdads got a run-scoring single from Santana, part of a two-run frame, to push the lead to 12-5.

Along with the four-hit night from Guerrero and Branch, Yolfran Castillo and Baquera collected a multi-hit night, claiming the first game of the series for the South Division leaders.

Geury Rodriguez (5-3) picked up the win in relief for Hickory (67-45, 33-15), while Dalton Neuschwander suffered the setback for Delmarva (41-74, 18-31).

The win for Hickory holds their lead in the second half at 5.5 games, as Kannapolis took down Fredricksburg 4-1 on the road to keep pace.

Hickory will play game two of the series on Wednesday night against Delmarva at 7pm.
