WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 12, 2018) - Blake Rutherford and Luis Alexander Basabe each homered to back Bernardo Flores' seven shutout innings in the Myrtle Beach Pelicans' 4-0 loss to the Winston-Salem Dash from BB&T Ballpark.
Rutherford smacked a solo shot on the first inning off of Pelicans (33-31) starter Alex Lange  (4-3) for the Dash (38-27) to start the scoring. Basabe then wacked a two-run home run in the third to make it 3-0 Winston-Salem.

An RBI single from Alex Call in the fifth inning ended Lange's night.
Flores (5-4) grabbed the win for the Dash, striking out five and walking two while just ceding three hits over his seven innings.
On the offensive side, Austin Upshaw knocked a double and Connor Myers and Zach Davis contributed singles for the only three Birds' hits.
With the loss, the Pelicans now trail the Dash by 4.5 games in the Southern Division with six contests remaining in the first half.
Myrtle Beach tries to salvage the three-game series with Wednesday's 7 p.m. contest. RHP Cory Abbott (1-0, 3.00 ERA) goes for the Birds against Winston-Salem LHP Tanner Banks (5-2, 2.94 ERA). Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on MyrtleBeachPelicans.com/Broadcast, the MiLB First Pitch app and TuneIn.
