CORPUS CHRISTI - J.D. Davis belted two home runs, including a grand slam, Thursday night as Corpus Christi knocked off Frisco, 11-6, before 4,331 fans at Whataburger Field.
The Hooks (30-29), who established a new season-high for runs scored, have won two of the first three games in this series.

The RoughRiders (26-33) struck first Thursday night, scratching out a run in the first on a two-out RBI single by Eric Aguilera. Andy Ibáñez opened the second with a home run to left field for a 2-0 edge.
Corpus Christi sent nine men to the plate in the home half against Collin Wiles. With men at the corners, Trent Woodward scored the first Hooks run via a wild pitch. Two batters later, Jamie Ritchie ripped a two-run single up the middle to push his club in front, 3-2.
Wiles could not finish the frame, giving way to David Ledbetter with no outs and the bases loaded. Ledbetter recorded three consecutive outs to slam the door.
In the fourth, Juremi Profar launched a 2-0 pitch from Cy Sneed onto the left-field berm for a three-run home run as the Riders pushed back in front, 5-3.
Ledbetter (1-4), who had retired six in a row, surrendered a lead-off single to Ritchie in the home fourth. Antonio Nunez reached on an error and Drew Ferguson worked a one-out walk to load the bases. Tucker drew a free pass for his fifth Double-A RBI, bringing Corpus Christi to within a run.
Davis was next. The 1-2 pitch left his bat at 109 MPH and landed into the Goodwill Zone in left field for the Hooks' second grand slam of the year. The poke staked Corpus Christi to an 8-5 advantage.
Frisco's final salvo came in the fifth as Michael O'Neil hit a 455-foot home run off the cotton press in left. Sneed was relieved by Jacob Dorris, who induced a double play to end the inning.
Facing Joe Filomeno, Davis opened the seventh with an opposite-field shot to right for his first multi-homer game of the season. The 24-year-old slugger leads the Texas League with 16 home runs.
Jason Martin capped the frame with a two-run dinger to left. Martin has hit two home runs in six games with the Hooks.
Brock Dykxhoorn (1-3) hurled 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, striking out seven against two walks.
Frisco loaded the bases in the ninth but Ryan Thompson recorded the final two outs to cement the triumph.
Corpus Christi lefty Framber Valdez is set to make his Double-A debut Friday night. Fellow southpaw Yohander Méndez (3-3, 3.52) is slated to pitch for the RoughRiders. Fans enjoy postgame fireworks presented by Bud Light.
