Glendale 9, Peoria 3 Emmet Sheehan struck out 10 over five scoreless innings for the Desert Dogs, including a stretch of eight consecutive strikeouts to match the this year's high in the AFL. The No. 22 Dodgers prospect allowed a bloop single and a first-inning walk during his 67-pitch outing.

Sheehan’s performance marked the first time an AFL hurler recorded at least eight strikeouts without allowing a run on one or fewer hits and walks since 2005, when former D-backs prospect Bill Murphy went six scoreless with 10 punchouts for Phoenix. No. 8 Dodgers prospect Jose Ramos came within a double of hitting for the cycle during a four-hit, four-RBI effort. Zack Gelof notched a pair of hits, including his third homer, to help lift the Solar Sox. The A's No. 3 prospect is batting .224/.302/.368 in the desert. Mesa starter Mason Miller reinforced his reputation as the best arm in the Fall League with three strong innings. The 20th-ranked A's prospect worked from 98-101 mph with his fastball and mixed in an 85-90 mph slider, striking out six and giving up just one run on a homer to No. 16 Tigers prospect Parker Meadows, who added a two-run ground-rule double. The power was on display for the Solar Sox up and down the lineup as Ronny Simon (Rays), third baseman Tyler Hardman (Yankees) and DH Joe Mack (Marlins No. 9) also went yard. MLB's No. 39 overall prospect Jasson Domínguez finished with two hits, including a double, and a run scored. Top Cardinals prospect Jordan Walker continued to swing a hot bat with an RBI double. Surprise 9, Scottsdale 4
Scott Schreiber delivered an RBI single and an opposite-field two-run homer for the Saguaros. The Astros prospect extended his hitting streak to seven games and improved his AFL slash line to .340/.404/.540 with six extra-base hits and 12 RBIs in 14 games. Third baseman Will Wagner (Astros) capped the scoring for the Saguaros with a three-run jack in the eighth inning. Right-hander Kumar Rocker surrendered three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five in 3 1/3 innings. It the longest of the Rangers' No. 8 prospect's six starts for Surprise this fall. Cal Conley (ATL 12) drove in a pair of runs on two hits for the Scorpions. More »
