Daytona brushes by Palm Beach on Bob Ross Night
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - In a game that featured 11 walks and seven hit batters, the Daytona Tortugas stormed back from an early deficit to upend the Palm Beach Cardinals, 6-5, in front of 3,687 fans at Jackie Robinson ballpark on Saturday night.

Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the fifth, 1B Bruce Yari (1-2, R, 3 BB) walked and CF Jameson Hannah (1-4, 2 R, RBI, SO) singled to start the frame. After a flyout moved Yari to third, LF Drew Mount (2-3, RBI, SO) smacked a single back through the middle to drive in a run and knot it at four. Following a C Mark Kolozsvary (1-2, R, 3B, BB) walk that loaded the bases, DH Alejo López (1-4, 2 RBI, SO) was plunked on a 1-0 pitch to force in a tally, giving Daytona (25-33, 60-63) the advantage, 5-4.
The Tortugas would add an insurance run in the seventh. With nobody on and two out, Kolozsvary scorched a triple into the gap in right-center. López then followed by flipping a single into shallow center. Kolozsvary crossed on the base-hit to make it a two-run affair, 6-4.
Palm Beach (19-37, 54-66) answered back in the bottom of the frame. 2B Nick Dunn (1-4, R, 2B) lofted a two-out bloop double to left to get the Cardinals in gear and DH Nick Plummer (1-2, R, 2B, 2 BB, SO) walked to start the attack. LF
While a throwing error on the play advanced the tying and go-ahead runs to third and second, respectively, that was as close as Palm Beach would get. RHP Dauri Moreta (0.1 IP, H, SO) proceeded to strike out SS Zack Gahagan (1-4, RBI, 2 SO) swinging to end the threat.
RHP Michael Byrne (1.0 IP, 2 SO) shut the door for the 'Tugas in the ninth. The 22-year-old collected a perfect ninth inning to garner his second save of the campaign.
It was a hot start to the night for the Cardinals, as the visitors jumped out an early 3-0 lead. RF Chase Pinder (2-5, R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) and 1B Luken Baker (1-4, R, HR, RBI) each clobbered solo home runs to left in the first. Two innings later, Pinder made it a three-run contest with an RBI double to left-center.
Daytona managed to knot it up in the bottom of the frame. A fielder's choice with the bases loaded from Hannah put the Tortugas on the board, as 2B Brian Rey (2-5, 2 RBI) later tied it with a two-RBI single to center.
Palm Beach quickly regained the advantage in the fourth, 4-3, as Plummer doubled and Gahagan singled him home.
Despite giving up more than three runs for the first time since June 30, RHP Mac Sceroler (5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 SO) battled through five innings to collect his fifth win of the season. Palm Beach's RHP Michael Baird (1.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 SO) yielded the go-ahead run in the fifth and was saddled with his second Florida State League defeat.
RHP Griffin Roberts (2.0 IP, H, 2 BB, SO) went just two innings in a no-decision for the Cards.
The homestand and Bob Ross Weekend comes to a close on Sunday with an Interactive Bob Ross T-Shirt Giveaway. The first 500 fans through the gates that night will receive another limited edition Tortugas t-shirt and will have the opportunity to paint it in our Pavilion down the first-base line throughout the game. The best kids club in town will have plenty of games and activities, as well for another Tiny Tugas Night. Immediately after that game's conclusion, all youngsters in attendance will be able to enjoy Kids Run the Bases.
In search of the series victory, RHP Austin Orewiler (7-9, 4.18 ERA) is slated to take the hill for Daytona. Palm Beach is scheduled to counter with LHP Diego Cordero (2-4, 3.83 ERA).
