Keith, Jung headline Tigers' Organization All-Stars

Each offseason, MiLB.com goes position by position across each organization and honors the players -- regardless of age or prospect status -- who had the best seasons in each farm system. Next up in our 2023 Organization All-Stars series are the Detroit Tigers.

Tigers 2023 Organization All-Stars:

C: Dillon Dingler (DET No. 11)
A/AA/AAA: .256/.361/.478, 89 G, 16 HR, 58 RBI, 58 R, 42 BB, 6 SB
A 2020 second-rounder (38th overall), Dingler delivered his best pro season in 2023 despite missing the first several weeks of the season recovering from knee surgery. He didn't take long to prove he was back, as he homered seven times in his first 14 games, including five straight from April 27-May 3. After a 26-game cameo at Triple-A, the 25-year-old is knocking on the door of The Show.

1B: Tyler Nevin
AAA: .326/.400/.543, 87 G, 15 HR, 58 RBI, 63 R, 38 BB, 4 SB
Nevin played 41 games in the Majors, but he spent most of the year tearing the cover off the ball for Toledo. The 26-year-old led Tigers Minor Leaguers with at least as many plate appearances as him (385) in OPS (.943) and was one of two such players (along with Justice Bigbie) to hit at least .300/.400/.500. Impressively, he hit for power (15 homers) without striking out much (16.9 percent).

2B: Jace Jung (DET No. 4, MLB No. 67)
A+/AA: .265/.376/.502, 128 G, 28 HR, 82 RBI, 74 R, 79 BB, 5 SB
The 2022 first-rounder's first pro season was an unmitigated success. Jung became a High-A All-Star after slashing .254/.377/.465 with 14 homers in 81 games and then hit even better in Double-A (.284/.373/.563) with another 14 roundtrippers in just 47 games. The 22-year-old exclusively played second base and DH in the Minors but played third during a solid Arizona Fall League stint.

3B: Colt Keith (DET No. 2, MLB No. 25)
AA/AAA: .306/.380/.552, 126 G, 27 HR, 101 RBI, 88 R, 60 BB, 3 SB
Keith began the 2023 season outside of MLB's Top 100 prospects and ended the year as one of the best. Between Erie and Toledo, the 21-year-old hit 27 home runs and drove in 101, which paced the organization and tied for eighth among all Minor Leaguers. The lefty-swinger, who was Detroit's Hitting Prospect of the Year, was almost exactly as effective against righties (.306/.378/.561) as he was against southpaws (.307/.395/.524).

SS: Andrew Navigato
A/AA: .280/.333/.505, 69 G, 11 HR, 52 RBI, 43 R, 20 BB, 8 SB
Navigato displays rare power for a shortstop, as half of his 78 hits went for extra bases, including 26 doubles, which were fourth in the organization. That allowed him to become one of 15 Tigers Minor Leaguers (minimum 300 PAs) with at least a .500 slugging percentage. The Oklahoma State alumnus played six positions in the field but played a solid shortstop for a majority of the games.

OF: Justice Bigbie (DET No. 21)
A+/AA/AAA: .343/.405/.537, 115 G, 19 HR, 42 RBI, 81 R, 42 BB, 6 SB
Bigbie's third professional campaign was a massive breakout as he played his way up from High-A to Triple-A. He was the lone qualified Minor Leaguer to hit above .340 and slug above .500, a key reason why he made the All-Prospect First Team and joined Keith as a Double-A All-Star. The 2021 19th-rounder could contribute to the big-league team next season as a corner outfielder.

OF: Justyn-Henry Malloy (DET No. 9)
AAA: .277/.417/.474, 135 G, 23 HR, 83 RBI, 89 R, 110 BB, 5 SB
Malloy made an instant impact in his first season in Detroit's system after arriving from Atlanta as part of the return for Joe Jiménez. Playing left field, right field and third base, the 23-year-old earned a start in the All-Star Futures Game and later became a Triple-A All-Star. He led the Minors with 110 walks and finished third in the organization in hits (135), homers (23) and runs (89).

OF: Parker Meadows (DET No. 10)
AAA: .256/.337/.474, 113 G, 19 HR, 65 RBI, 78 R, 57 BB, 19 SB
Meadows was en route to his first professional 20-20 season when he was called up to the Majors in late August. The 2018 second-rounder set career bests in slugging percentage (.474) and walk rate (11.0 percent) at the highest level of the Minors and showed off his speed with seven triples and 19 swipes on 21 attempts. Best of all, he provided high-level defense in center field.

RHP: Ty Madden (DET No. 6)
AA: 3-4, 3.43 ERA, 118 IP, 146 K, 50 BB, .233 BAA, 1.28 WHIP
Madden has been a workhorse since Detroit made him the 31st pick in the 2021 Draft, and the former Texas Longhorn put on a clinic for Erie in 2023. He ranked second in the organization with 146 strikeouts and registered more K's than innings pitched in 18 of his 26 starts. The 23-year-old gave up more than three runs just four times as he ranked second in the Eastern League in ERA (3.43).

LHP: Brant Hurter (DET No. 12)
AA: 6-7, 3.28 ERA, 118 IP, 133 K, 33 BB, .242 BAA, 1.19 WHIP
Who paced the Eastern League in ERA? That would be Hurter, who did not give up a run in nine of his 26 starts. The 2021 seventh-rounder minimized homers (0.53 HR/9) by keeping the ball on the ground while still running a high strikeout rate (10.14 K/9). For that, he was a Double-A All-Star and the Tigers' Pitching Prospect of the Year.

RP: Tyler Mattison (DET No. 28)
A+/AA: 5-1, 6 SV, 2.41 ERA, 59 2/3 IP, 91 K, 28 BB, .190 BAA, 1.14 WHIP
Mattison was solid in 26 1/3 High-A innings (3.42 ERA, 3.70 FIP) and downright dominant in 33 1/3 Double-A frames (1.62 ERA, 2.14 FIP). The righty was a strikeout machine (37.9 percent) and did not give up a homer at all for Erie. After coming off the injured list in June, the 2021 fourth-rounder fired off 12 straight scoreless outings, including seven straight hitless outings following a promotion to Double-A.
