PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of May 1st through May 7th.

Portland Sea Dogs third baseman Rafael Devers has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 1st-May 7th. The 20-year old hit .440 (11-for-25) with four home runs, 10 RBIs, nine runs scored, three walks, and a .920 slugging percentage in seven games for the Sea Dogs last week. Devers, who is a native of Sanchez, Dominican Republic, reached base at least once in all seven games he played in last week and had a pair of multiple hit games, including going 5-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs in a 12-11 win at Hartford on Tuesday. The 6'0", 195 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in home runs (4), slugging percentage (.920), and OPS (1.420) last week and tied for the league lead in RBIs (10) and total bases (23). He also ranked among the weekly leaders in runs scored (9-2nd), extra-base hits (4-tied 3rd), hits (11-4th), batting average (.440-7th), and on-base percentage (.500-tied 7th). Devers is now hitting .322 with six homers and 17 RBIs in 23 games in his Double-A debut for the Sea Dogs this season. Rafael, who is rated by MLB.com as the top prospect in the Red Sox organization and the 14th best prospect in all of Minor League Baseball, was signed by the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent on August 9, 2013.

P.J. Conlon, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 1st-May 7th. The 5'11", 190 lb. hurler started one game for the Rumble Ponies last week and had a record of 1-0 with nine strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Conlon, who is a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, made his lone start of the week on Saturday night in the second game of a doubleheader at New Hampshire and threw a one-hitter in Binghamton's 9-0 win. Conlon tied a career-high with nine strikeouts and walked just one batter over seven innings while throwing the first shutout of his career. The 23-year old was the only pitcher in the Eastern League to throw a shutout last week and was one of just two pitchers to pitch a complete game. He led all Eastern League pitchers in batting average against (.045) last week and tied for the league lead in ERA (0.00) and WHIP (0.29) while also ranking among the weekly leaders in wins (1-tied 2nd) and strikeouts (9-tied 3rd). P.J., who has a record of 3-1 with a 3.31 ERA and a league-high 35 strikeouts in six starts for the Rumble Ponies this season, was selected by the New York Mets in the 13th round of the 2015 draft out of the University of San Diego.
