Devers hits two home runs and Chavis hits his third home run in six games

Portland, Maine- Rafael Devers cranked two home runs, Michael Chavis added another, as the Sea Dogs (35-38) won their third straight game over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (31-46) with a 5-1 win on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.

Portland, Maine- Rafael Devers cranked two home runs, Michael Chavis added another, as the Sea Dogs (35-38) won their third straight game over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (31-46) with a 5-1 win on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.

Devers homered over the Maine Monster in left off of Sean Reid-Foley (4-6) with two outs in the first to plate the game's first run. In the fifth he took Reid-Foley yard again - this time to right - for his second multi-homer game of the season.
Chavis' homer was also off Reid-Foley and led off the fourth inning. It was measured by Trackman as having an exit velocity of 108.8 MPH and sailed past the light tower atop the Maine Monster.
Kevin McAvoy (3-5) had one of his strongest outings of the season, allowing just one run on three hits in six innings. He struck out six and walked one.
Reid-Foley gutted out six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits.
Devers finished the game with three hits and three RBIs. Nick Longhi also added an RBI, while Jordan Procyshen finished with two hits.
Josh Smith worked two scoreless innings in relief for Portland, while Williams Jerez closed out the game by striking out the side in the ninth after allowing a leadoff double.
The Sea Dogs will go for the sweep tomorrow night, first pitch from Hadlock Field is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Eduardo Rodriguez is scheduled to make a rehab appearance and pitch for the Sea Dogs, RHP Jon Harris (2-8, 6.47) will start for New Hampshire.
