Augusta, GA - The recent trend of strong starting pitching continued for the Greenville Drive on Wednesday night, as Jhonathan Diaz delivered seven outstanding innings in a 2-0 shutout of the Augusta GreenJackets.
Diaz (2-5) was in control all game long for the Drive (18-39) en route to his first victory since Opening Night in West Virginia. The left-hander allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out six.

For the first five innings, Diaz was matched by his counterpart on the Augusta (35-22) side. Jason Bahr (6-3) kept the Drive off the board for five innings, but he was tagged for two runs in the top of the sixth.
Everlouis Lozada began the sixth inning with a double to center field, and after a sacrifice bunt by Jagger Rusconi, Lorenzo Cedrola grounded a single into center to bring the first run home. Two batters later, Michael Osinski doubled down the left field line to plate Cedrola for the 2-0 lead.
The lead would stand up from there, as Diaz worked two more scoreless frames and Marcos Lantigua hurled two scoreless innings of his own to notch his second save of the year.
Cedrola led the Greenville offense by going 2-4 with an RBI atop the lineup, and he stole a pair of bases as well.
The Drive will go for a series victory over the Southern Division-leading GreenJackets at 7:05 PM on Thursday in Augusta. Right-hander Alex Scherff (1-4, 5.58) takes the ball for the Drive against GreenJackets right-hander Garrett Cave (4-1, 3.32).
