Clinton, IA (July 30, 2018) - Dimas Ojeda drove home the winning run for the Clinton LumberKings in a 4-3 11-inning walk-off win over the Peoria Chiefs on Monday night at Ashford University Field. The LumberKings (18-18, 57-49) trailed for most of the night only to come from behind to snap a six-game losing streak.
Peoria (22-13, 61-44) started the night's scoring as they have done in each of the three games this series with a Yariel Gonzalez home run. In the top of the third inning, Clinton starter Ryne Inman allowed his only runs of the night when Gonzalez launched his 10th home run of the year, and third of the series, to right field for a two-run home run.
The LumberKings then answered the rally in the bottom of the inning against Chiefs starter Angel Rondon. Clinton tallied a pair of runs in the inning following a Johnny Adams single and Jack Larsen reaching on an error. Joseph Rosa, with one of three hits, drove home Adams for the first run of the frame and Keegan McGovern was credited with his 25th RBI of the year with an RBI ground out.
In the top of the fourth, Peoria broke the 2-2 tie with an unearned run against Inman. Rayder Ascanio started the rally with a two out single and moved to third on a single by Wood Myers. With runners at the corners, Inman then dropped the ball on a throw back from catcher Juan Camacho allowing Ascanio to score and putting the Chiefs on top 3-2.
Peoria remained in front by one until the bottom of the ninth. Down to their final two outs Ojeda singled to left and was followed three pitches later by an Onil Pena RBI triple to right center that tied the score at three.
The Chiefs then left runners at the corners in the 10th and LumberKings reliever Adonis De La Cruz stranded the bases loaded in the 11th to preserve the 3-3 tie. In the top of the 11th Peoria loaded the bases against De La Cruz (3-2) with nobody out only to have the righty work around the trouble and earn his third win of the year.
In the bottom of the 11th, Ojeda rolled a single up the middle against Chiefs reliever C.J. Saylor (0-2) to score Eugene Helder from second.
The LumberKings will meet the Peoria Chiefs for series finale and homestand finale on Tuesday night.
