McCarthy last pitched in the majors on July 20 and has been dealing with blister problems. This year for the Dodgers, he has made 16 appearances, all starts, and has compiled a 6-4 record with a 3.84 ERA.
More recently, he has made three rehab starts for Rancho Cucamonga, including in one California League playoff game in his most recent outing. McCarthy started for the Quakes in Game 3 of the division playoff against Lancaster and was charged with the loss. He allowed seven hits and three runs in five innings.
In two regular season starts for the Quakes, McCarthy was a combined 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA.
In his career, the 34-year-old has 63-72 big league record with six different clubs.
The Drillers will face Midland tonight at ONEOK Field, holding a 2 games to 0 lead in the best-of-five Championship Series. The Drillers would wrap up the title with one more win.
