'Dogs complete sweep, 5-1 win at Hartford

Hartford, Conn- The Portland Sea Dogs (13-8) made it four straight wins to finish out a six-game roadtrip, defeating the Hartford Yard Goats (8-15), 5-1, Wednesday morning at Dunkin Donuts Park. Portland's 3-game road sweep was their first since last June at Richmond.

Kevin McAvoy (1-2) earned his first win of the season, firing six strong innings on 5 hits, one run, one walk and 6 strikeouts. The lone run came in the first inning on a run-scoring double by Drew Weeks. McAvoy was perfect in three of six innings, notching his second quality start of the year.
Portland took the lead for good in the fifth inning against reliever Troy Neiman (L, 0-1). Danny Bethea tied the game with a run-scoring single to right field. Danny Mars blooped a two-run single to left for the game winning hit. The 'Dogs added two more runs on a sacrifice fly by Josh Tobias and an RBI double from Tzu-Wei Lin.
Lin went 2-for-3, extending his Eastern League leading hitting streak to 15 straight games. Luis Ysla pitched two perfect innings for his second hold of the year and Jamie Callahan pitched a perfect ninth.
Deiner Lopez went 2-for-4, 2 runs scored in his Double-A debut. Mars finished 2-for-4, 2 RBI and Rafael Devers went 1-for-3 with a walk.
Portland opens up a five-game series in four days with the Reading Fightin Phils on Thursday night at Hadlock Field, first pitch is 6:00 PM. RHP Teddy Stankiewicz faces off against Reading righty Tyler Viza. Tickets are available at seadogs.com or 207-879-9500.
