LANSING, Mich. - A night after scoring 19 runs, the Lansing Lugnuts (28-26, 60-63) were zeroed out on five hits, falling 6-0 to the Dayton Dragons (23-31, 51-73) on Saturday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.

Second baseman Otto Lopez provided the Lugnuts' sole silver lining, going 2-for-4 with two singles to extend his hitting streak to 18 games, one game away from tying for the Midwest League's longest hitting streak of 2019.

Dayton starter Eduardo Salazar (Win, 6-3) scattered five singles and one walk in six innings, striking out four, in combining with reliever Eddy Demurias on the shutout. Demurias recorded the final nine outs in perfect order, striking out one, to notch his third save.

That performance got the best of Lugnuts starter Cobi Johnson (Loss, 2-7) despite a seven-strikeout performance in 5 2/3 innings. Johnson gave up a Morgan Lofstrom RBI single in the first inning, retired 12 Dragons in a row from the second through the sixth innings, and then gave up a two-out walk, single, run-scoring wild pitch and Juan Martinez two-run homer in a four-run sixth inning that effectively put the game away.

Andy McGuire followed Johnson, allowing one run on two hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings. Josh Hiatt pitched the eighth and the ninth innings, allowing Dayton's final run on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the ninth.

In defeat, Rafael Lantigua , Jake Brodt and Johnny Aiello each collected a single and Gabriel Moreno drew a walk for the Nuts.

Sunday is Latino Day on a special Delta Dental Kids Day, as the Lansing Locos return as part of Minor League Baseball's Copa de la Diversión to play the Dragons at 1:05 p.m. in the second game of the four-game series. Right-hander Sean Wymer (5.75 ERA) takes on Dayton right-hander Jhon De Jesus (5.08) in the starting matchup. ¡Vamos Locos!
