Tulsa, OK - The Tulsa Drillers topped the Springfield Cardinals, 2-1, before 4,638 fans at ONEOK Field on Sunday afternoon.

For the second straight game, the Cardinals (31-30) collected an early lead in the top of the first against the Drillers (30-31). Facing RHP Scott Barlow (W, 4-2), CF Oscar Mercado led off the game with a line drive to shallow center field. Mercado raced around to third base on a single from 2B Casey Turgeon, before darting home on an RBI fielder's choice from LF Magneuris Sierra for the 1-0 lead.

RHP Zac Gallen (L, 1-1) kept the Drillers off the board through his first two frames, but Tulsa tied it in the bottom of the third. With two down and the bases empty, CF Tim Locastro powered a solo home run out to left field, squaring the score at 1-1.

Tulsa tilted the lead in their favor with one run in the bottom of the sixth. A pair of walks around a strikeout put runners at first and second with one away. C Paul Hoenecke then sliced an RBI double just out of the diving range of CF Oscar Mercado in right-center, bringing in 3B Edwin Ríos from second base for the 2-1 advantage.

RHP Corey Baker and LHP Ian McKinney combined for 2.2 scoreless relief innings to keep the Cardinals within just one run.

However, Barlow maintained the Drillers advantage through his seven innings, allowing just the one early run on three hits and at one stretch retiring 17 straight outs. Tulsa RHP Shea Spitzbarth (S, 2) picked up where Barlow left off, tossing a pair of scoreless frames to close the 2-1 win for the Drillers.
