The Tulsa Drillers got back on track Tuesday night against the Springfield Cardinals. Another big offensive night by Cael Brockmeyer was backed up by a great outing from Tulsa starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin to give the Drillers a 7-6 victory.
Tulsa got the offense going early after walks to Will Smith and Jacob Scavuzzo single set the table for a three-run home run from Brockmeyer in the top of the first inning to give the Drillers a 3-0 lead.
The Cardinals answered back immediately as Gonsolin surrendered a single and a stolen base to Tommy Edman. John Nogowski followed with a homer to cut the lead to 3-2.
In the Drillers half of the third, Zach McKinstry led off the inning with a home run to right to extend the lead to 4-2.
Tulsa added three more runs in the fourth inning. Keibert Ruiz and DJ Peters knocked back-to-back singles to start the offense. Tyler Goeddel then lined a single to center that plated Ruiz. Gonsolin then roped a triple to center scoring Peters and Goeddel to make it 7-2 Tulsa.
Reliever Yadier Álvarez came into the game in the sixth inning and ran into some trouble. He gave a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh.
In the Cardinals half of the eighth three straight singles loaded the bases with nobody out.  He would answer back by getting the next two batters out via the strikeout and a pop-up. The next batter Edman would take advantage of the situation though, scoring two on a double to right, cutting the lead to 7-6.
Tulsa reliever Michael Johnson, who was activiated off the DL earlier in the day, would come in to strikeout the next batter to end the threat.
Johnson and Marshall Kowoski would combine to close out the game in the ninth to secure the Drillers win.

Tulsa had a few roster moves to coincide with the Dodgers Trade Deadline moves. Luke Raley and Devin Smeltzer were part of the deal bringing in Brian Dozier from the Twins, and Corey Copping was traded to Toronto for John Axford.
Last night's starter Kyle Lobstein got promoted to AAA Oklahoma City, and Dustin May got promoted to Tulsa from Rancho Cucamonga. May is the fourth highest prospect in the Dodgers system according to MLB.com.
