Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive snapped a four-game losing skid in a big way on Sunday afternoon at Fluor Field, as a breakout performance by the offense and stellar pitching combined to give the Drive a 7-1 win over the West Virginia Power.
Offensively, the Drive (28-28, 69-56) were powered by Tyler Hill, who led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run as part of a 4-5 day. Hill socked a 1-1 pitch from Oddy Nunez (4-7) over the Green Monster, his eighth homer of the season and his second leadoff homer of the weekend.
Three more runs in the second extended the lead. After a leadoff walk, Isaias Lucena belted a two-run shot over the Monster for his fourth long ball of the season, and Brett Netzer added an RBI groundout in the frame.
The early support was plenty for Hildemaro Requena, who picked up his team-leading ninth win of the season. He worked six innings and allowed just one hit, one unearned run and three walks with a career-high eight strikeouts.
The Power (30-26, 60-62) scored their lone run of the afternoon on an RBI groundout by Ryan Nagle in the fifth, but the Drive answered back with two runs in the bottom half. The damage came from Ryan Scott, who blasted a two-run homer 418 feet into the Drive bullpen to make the score 6-1. With the home run, Scott joins Roldani Baldwin as the only Greenville hitters in double figures in homers.

A double play groundout in the sixth brought home the final Drive run of the game.
Joan Martinez and Juan Florentino combined to shut out the Power over the final three innings.
Lucena and Carlos Tovar joined Hill with multi-hit games on Sunday.
The teams will play their series finale at Fluor Field at 1:05 on Monday afternoon as part of the solar eclipse. Left-hander Darwinzon Hernandez (3-4, 3.67) starts on the mound for the Drive, and he will be opposed by Power right-hander Luis Escobar (9-7, 4.07).
