AMARILLO, TX (November 2, 2026) – Minor League Baseball and Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, Inc., today announced Sod Poodles center fielder Druw Jones as one of the nine recipients of the 2026 Rawlings Gold Glove Award for defensive excellence.

Jones, the 22nd-ranked prospect in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, played 118 games with the Sod Poodles during the 2026 regular season and made 111 of his starts in center field. The son of Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Andruw Jones, he was an instrumental piece in Amarillo’s playoff run as he put his stellar speed, defense, and arm on display during the Sod Poodles’ championship run. He recorded 299 putouts on the year with a .993 fielding percentage and led Double-A baseball with 13 outfield assists.

“Rawlings is pleased to recognize this year’s class of Minor League Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners as the “Finest In The Field,” said Mike Thompson, Chief Marketing Officer for Rawlings. “We are thankful for our long-standing partnership with Minor League Baseball that enables us to annually recognize these young players as they work their way up to the Major League level.”

Jones is now a two-time recipient of the award, having won a Rawlings Gold Glove in 2025. He will receive his own Rawlings Gold Glove Award, modeled after the iconic award given to Major League Baseball’s top defensive players, during the 2027 season.

“These players demonstrated exceptional defensive ability throughout the 2026 season, setting themselves apart as elite fielders,” said Peter Woodfork, Major League Baseball’s Senior Vice President, Minor League Operations and Development. “On behalf of Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball and our valued partners at Rawlings, I’m honored to congratulate each recipient of the prestigious Rawlings Gold Glove Award.”

With the 2026 Sod Poodles Championship season now in the rearview, baseball fans in the Panhandle can look ahead to next season as Amarillo’s home opener in 2027 is scheduled for April 6 against the visiting Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City Royals).
