Summary
Akron's Julian Merryweather weaved eight innings and allowed just two hits, and the RubberDucks made three first-inning runs stand up, in a 3-2 win over the Altoona Curve Wednesday afternoon at PNG Field in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Turning Point
The RubberDucks (20-21) jumped on Altoona starter Alex McRae (3-1) with five consecutive hits to start the game. After loading the bases on singles by Luigi Rodriguez, Tyler Krieger and Francisco Mejía, the Ducks capitalized with a two-run single by Bobby Bradley and a run-scoring single by Mike Papi to take a 3-0 lead. Bradley extended his hit streak to five straight games and raised his RBI total to 22.
Winging It
Merryweather (4-2) was brilliant, working a season-high eight innings. He did not allow a hit until the fifth, when he allowed two runs on two hits to make the score 3-2. He tossed three more scoreless innings before turning things over to right-hander Mitch Brown in the ninth. Brown issued a walk and had to pitch around a two-out error, but managed to strike out Altoona's Jordan Luplow to end the game and post his second save.
Duck Tales
Rodriguez was 2-4, and enjoyed his second straight two-hit game. Papi was also 2-4. Mark Mathias had a single in the fifth to extend his hit streak to seven games.
