Summary
Akron's Joe Sever slugged a game-tying double in the ninth inning and later came around to score the game-winning run on a throwing error as the RubberDucks rallied in their last at-bat to stun the Erie SeaWolves, 4-3, Saturday night at Canal Park in Akron, Ohio.

Turning Point
The RubberDucks (21-14) came off the mat in the ninth inning against Erie closer John Schreiber (0-3). Trailing 3-2 entering the inning, Willi Castro led off with a sharp single to center. Sever then knocked Castro in with a ringing double to the gap in right-center to tie the game, 3-3. The SeaWolves elected to walk the left-handed hitting Bobby Bradley intentionally and face righty Mark Mathias. When Mathias bunted toward third in an attempt to sacrifice, Schreiber fielded the ball and threw wildly to first, allowing Sever to score the winning run. Mathias was credited with a single on the play.
Mound Presence
Luke Eubank (1-0) earned his first Double-A win with perfect relief work. He retired all four batters he faced after entering the game in the eighth with two outs. Nick Pasquale also dealt shutout relief, tossing 1.2 innings in relief of Akron starter Shao-Ching Chiang. Chiang allowed three runs on six hits over six innings.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks managed only a pair of solo homers off Erie starter Sandy Baez, who pitched into the seventh. Sever slugged a solo shot in the third, his third of the season. Bradley added a solo shot to right in the fifth to close the gap to 3-2. It was Bradley's sixth of the year, tops on the Akron team. Mathias led the RubberDucks with a three-hit night. Sever, Bradley, Castro, Sicnarf Loopstok, and Todd Hankins all had two hits apiece for the Ducks.
