Summary
Akron's Eric Haase cranked a double and a single, driving in a run and scoring once, to lead the RubberDucks to a 5-4 victory over the Richmond Flying Squirrels Saturday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point
The RubberDucks (49-47) scored twice in the first inning off Richmond starter Nate Reed (1-2). Joe Sever singled with one out and scored on a double by Francisco Mejía. After a wild pitch moved Mejia to third, Bobby Bradley drove him home with a groundout. It was Bradley's 67th RBI, tops on the team, and gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead right out of the gate.
Winging It
Akron's Matt Whitehouse (6-4) earned the win with a five-inning effort. He scattered eight hits and allowed only a three-run homer by Richmond's K.C. Hobson. Whitehouse did not walk a batter and fanned four. He has won six of his last seven decisions, counting a win at Triple-A Columbus. D. J. Brown chipped in a pair of shutout innings, Mitch Brown worked a scoreless eighth, and closer Cameron Hill worked around two walks and a run in the ninth for his seventh save.
Duck Tales
Haase was 3-4 on the night, with two singles and a double. He drilled an RBI single off Reed in the third. He added a leadoff double in the sixth, and came around to score on sacrifice fly by Greg Allen to extend the Akron lead to 5-3. Mike Papi cracked a double in the third inning to extend his hit streak to seven games.
