Dumitru’s Big Night Not Enough in 10-6 Loss at Erie

ERIE, Pa. – Erie hit three home runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead and cruised to a 10-6 win over the Curve on Saturday night.

The SeaWolves hit six home runs in the win after knocking four last night. Izaac Pacheco and EJ Exposito hit back-to-back home runs in the first and the fifth inning, Pacheco added a third homer in the seventh inning; the third time this season an opponent has recorded a multi-homer game against the Curve.

Despite falling behind early, the Curve offense refused to let the game get away from them. Titus Dumitru slugged his 15th home run of the season as part of 3-for-5 day at the plate with three RBI. Dumitru doubled in the fourth and sixth inning, teaming with Callan Moss and Murf Gray to lead the Curve offense which put up six runs on ten hits.

Dumitru and Keiner Delgado recorded run-scoring hits in the sixth inning as the Curve rallied from a 7-2 deficit to make it a 7-5 game. However, Erie got a run back in the sixth and added a two-run homer from Pacheco in the seventh to secure the win.

On the mound, Connor Oliver suffered the loss after he was touched for five runs over four innings. Mike Walsh covered two innings in relief and was charged with three runs allowed. Kyle Larsen wrapped up the night on the mound with two innings of relief.

Gray extended his on-base streak to 18 games, he has reached base safely in every game he’s played with Altoona. Moss’ two-hit day gave him 104 hits total for the season, fifth-most in the Eastern League this season. Lonnie White Jr. added a single and a pair of walks in the loss.

Altoona wrap up their series at Erie on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. Altoona will send RHP Dominic Pipkin to the mound while the SeaWolves are slated to start RHP Kenny Serwa.
