DUNEDIN, FL – Minor League Baseball announced Tuesday that Dunedin Blue Jays’ Pat Skunda has been named Florida State League Groundskeeper of the Year.
The Toronto Blue Jays’ Head Superintendent of Florida Operations, Skunda has been with the organization since 2004 and previously won the award in 2022. He is the first ever two-time recipient of the Florida State League Groundskeeper of the Year award.
“We are so proud of Pat and the entire TD Ballpark grounds crew,” said Dunedin Blue Jays General Manager Matt Woak. “They work around the clock and battle the elements to maintain what we feel is the best playing surface in not just the Florida State League, but in all of Minor League Baseball.”
The winner of the award is selected by Major League Baseball with nominations made by individuals across the industry, including managers across the league who provide feedback throughout the season on the quality and condition of playing surfaces. Pat’s dedication and attention to providing the best possible field at the highest of standards was strongly highlighted, earning him this distinction.
Skunda’s dedication to maintaining TD Ballpark’s field at the highest standard, along with his attention to detail and commitment to providing the best possible playing surface, earned him this distinction.
