MOBILE, Ala. (August 22, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, made three errors in the first four innings of an 11-4 loss to the Chattanooga Lookouts in the series finale Thursday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Two of the three errors came in the first inning, allowing two of Chattanooga's (56-72 overall, 20-39 second half) five runs in the frame to score. Oliver Ortega (0-3) exited the game with two outs in the first inning.
The BayBears (47-79, 20-38) responded quickly with two runs on a Jack Kruger single in the bottom of the first. Kruger finished 3-for-4 and drove in three of the four Mobile runs.
For the second time this season, Brendon Sanger hit a home run in consecutive games. His long ball in the sixth inning was his team-high 10th.
Wendolyn Bautista (2-3) struck out a career-high 12 batters in a six-inning start to earn the win for Chattanooga.
The BayBears begin a six-game road series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp Friday at 6:05 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Zack Kelly (2-6, 4.18 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Kolton Mahoney (4-3, 3.36 ERA) for the Jumbo Shrimp.
