JACKSON, Tenn. (July 26, 2017) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, could not climb back from an early four-run deficit and fell 5-1 to the Jackson Generals Wednesday night at the Ballpark at Jackson.
The BayBears (43-57 overall, 13-18 second half) tallied their lone run in the top of the seventh inning. Zach Houchins hit a double and scored on an infield single by Alberto Triunfel . Houchins finished 2-for-4, recording his team-high 28th multi-hit game of the season.
Travis Denker drove in four of the five runs for Jackson (54-48, 17-15). His two-run homer to right field in the first inning gave the Generals an early lead. Denker also added sacrifice flies in the second and eighth.
Brad Keller (7-7) tossed six scoreless innings to earn his seventh win. He gave up five hits, did not allow a walk, and struck out three batters.
Jake Jewell (5-8) took the loss, as the Generals tagged him for four runs (three earned) on five hits with three walks. Conor Lillis-White pitched two scoreless, hitless innings of relief with two strikeouts.
The BayBears continue the five-game road series against Jackson Thursday at 6:05 p.m. CT. Right-handed pitcher Tyler Carpenter (1-5, 4.79 ERA) is slated to make the start against southpaw Alex Young (7-5, 4.31 ERA) for the Generals.
