Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs had their season-best six game win streak snapped on Monday night with a 3-2 12-inning loss to the Beloit Snappers. The loss puts the Chiefs at 4-1 in the second half and 34-40 overall as they host Beloit for game two of the series on Tuesday with an 11:00 a.m. first pitch.
Beloit struck first in the top of the third inning for a pair of runs off Chiefs All-Star starter Jordan Hicks. Collin Theroux doubled to the wall in right field and JaVon Shelby followed with a one-out single to plate Theroux and give the Snappers a 1-0 lead. Eric Mariñez doubled down the left field line to score Shelby, which gave the Snappers a 2-0 advantage.

The Chiefs answered immediately in the bottom of the frame off Beloit's starter Brandon Baily to cut the Snappers lead in half. Peoria's first hit of the night came on Vince Jackson's solo home run, his fourth homer of the season, to make it 2-1 Beloit.
The Chiefs evened the score in the seventh inning on a two-out rally against Snappers reliever Seth Martinez. Nick Plummer doubled to center field for just the second base hit of the night for Peoria, and he was driven in a batter later on a Jose Martinez double to tie the game at 2-2. Martinez was picked off second to end the inning.
After Hicks struck out Theroux to start the eighth and give him a new career-high in innings pitched, he allowed a walk to Shelby and an infield single to Trace Loehr. His night ended, and Yeison Medina entered out of the bullpen to strike out Marinez and get Edwin Díaz to pop out to first base.
After four scoreless innings between the eighth and 11th innings, the Snappers broke the 2-2 tie in the top of the 12th against Peoria reliever Ronnie Williams. Williams retired the first seven batters he faced, but allowed a bunt single to Luis Barrera and a double down the left field line to J.C. Rodriguez to put runners on second and third with one out. Theroux struck out for the second out of the inning, but a wild pitch forced Brian O'Keefe to have to throw to first, and Barrera scored from third on O'Keefe's throw to first to make it 3-2. Rodriguez tried to score from second on the throw that got past Williams, but he was thrown out at home to end the inning.
O'Keefe led off the bottom of the 12th inning with a single back up the middle against Beloit reliever Sam Sheehan and advanced to second on a JR Davis ground out. Plummer drew a walk to put runners on first and second with one out, but both Martinez and Jackson struck out to end the game.
Hicks (7-2) took a no-decision throwing a career-high 7 1/3 innings allowing just two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. Medina tossed a scoreless 1 1/3 innings striking out four and giving up just one base hit. Williams (2-4) suffered the loss allowing a run on two hits over three innings with three strikeouts.
