Logan Farrar smashed his team-leading third homer, but the Beloit Snappers (9-10) fell 7-2 in the opener of the three-game series with the Fort Wayne TinCaps (11-14) Tuesday night at Parkview Field.

Trailing 7-0 entering the top of the ninth inning, the Snappers gave the comeback a shot but fell short with the 7-2 loss. Trace Loehr and Austin Beck both struck out swinging to start the Snappers ninth before Farrar stepped to the dish.
Farrar then sent the first pitch he saw from TinCaps reliever Caleb Boushley to right field to put the Snappers on the board. For Farrar, it is his third homer of the season and his second in his last four games.
After Hunger Hargrove singled to center, Skyler Weber sent his second double of the night to right field, scoring Hargrove to make it a 7-2 deficit. However, that is as close as the Snappers would get, as Jack Meggs grounded out to second to end the game and the comeback effort.
The TinCaps wasted no time taking the early lead as they plated four runs in the first frame. Carlos Belen began the scoring for Fort Wayne, as he knocked in a pair with a two-run single to left scoring Jiesson Rosario and Tirso Ornelas to give the TinCaps the early 2-0 lead. Luis Campusano then followed with a two-run home run, and the TinCaps quickly doubled their lead to 4-0 on Snappers starter Bryce Conley.
Conley would surrender another two-run home run in the second inning, as Esteury Ruiz sent a two-run shot to right that plated Ornelas to increase the TinCaps lead to 6-0.
The right-hander's night was done after just four innings, as Conley surrendered six runs on six hits while walking two and striking out four batters. Conley gave way to Mitchell Jordan out of the bullpen, as Jordan pitched three innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out a pair.
The lone run Jordan surrendered came in the seventh inning, as Gabriel Arias singled home Ornelas to up the TinCaps lead to 7-0 at the time.
Nich Highberger then tossed the eighth inning for the snappers and yielded just one hit in the inning.
The series continues Wednesday morning against the TinCaps, with first pitch scheduled for 10:05 a.m. CST. Right-hander Wyatt Marks (3-1, 2.41) will get the start for the Snappers, as the TinCaps will send left-hander Tom Cosgrove (1-2, 5.94).
