BURLINGTON, VT --- Logan Farrar went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI, while Hunter Hargrove was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles to lead the Vermont Lake Monsters to a 7-4 New York-Penn League victory over the Lowell Spiners Wednesday night at historic Centennial Field.
Farrar, who went 3-for-4 in his last game on Sunday, gave the Lake Monsters a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single and a 2-0 lead in the third with an RBI double. Hargrove followed with a line drive RBI single to left to give Vermont a three-run lead.

Lowell rallied to tie the game on a Mario Campana two-run double in the fourth and a Frankie Rios RBI single in the fifth, but Hargrove singled again to leftfield to plate Farrar with an unearned run to give the Lake Monsters a 4-3 advantage.
Vermont added three more runs in the seventh on a run-scoring wild pitch, Anthony Churlin RBI double and Payton Squier RBI single for a 7-3 lead. The Spinners got a run closer in the eighth on back-to-back doubles from Juan Barriento and Zach Sterry, but Lake Monsters reliever Josh Reagan went the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his first save.
Argenis Blanco (4-5) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with no walks and two strikeouts over the first six innings to earn the win, while Kevin Merrell and Aaron Arruda each had two hits for Vermont. The Lake Monsters offense has had 11 or more hits in five straight games, hitting .315 (60-for-190) over those five games.
Devon Fisher (4-1) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits over 2 2/3 innings of relief to take the loss for Lowell (25-27). Sterry went 3-for-4 and Rios 2-for-4 in the loss for the Spinners, who are 0-3 at Centennial Field this season.
With the victory, Vermont (29-25) now leads the Stedler Division by 1 1/2 games over Tri-City and three games over Lowell. The Lake Monsters and Spinners will play the second of the three-game series Thursday starting at 7:05 pm with the first 1,000 fans receiving a free Lake Monsters Performance T-Shirt courtesty of Northeast Delta Dental.
