Marsh and Kruger hit home runs, Jones collects two hits

MOBILE, Ala. (August 18, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, fell to the Chattanooga Lookouts 14-4 in the series opener Sunday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.
The Lookouts (55-69 overall, 19-36 second half) tallied a season-high 14 runs on 22 hits, including nine runs on nine hits in the top of the first. Only four of the runs were earned, as the BayBears (44-78, 17-37) committed a pair of errors. Chattanooga sent 13 batters to the plate in the opening frame and knocked Zack Kelly (2-6) out of the game after recording just two outs.
Brandon Marsh and Jack Kruger both hit home runs to lead the BayBears at the plate. Marsh hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the first, and Kruger added a solo home run in the sixth. Jahmai Jones also collected a pair of hits, including an RBI triple in the second.
Gavin LaValley came just a double shy of the cycle, and he drove in four runs in the first inning with a home run and a triple. All nine Lookouts batters had hits, and seven of the nine had multiple hits.
Brad Markey (3-3) struck out seven batters and did not issue a walk in a six-inning start.
