CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (June 5, 2019) - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, scored five runs in the first inning and held on for a 7-5 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts Wednesday night at AT&T Field to snap a six-game losing streak.
Four players recorded multiple hits in the game. Brandon Sandoval got the scoring started with a two-run single off Tony Santillan (2-3) in the first, and he added three more singles to match his career-high with a 4-for-5 night. Jo Adell recorded his second straight two-hit game. Connor Justus had a pair of RBI singles in the first and fifth, and Erick Salcedo went 3-for-4 with a run-scoring hit in the fifth also.
With plenty of run support, Jesus Castillo (3-6) recorded his team-high fourth quality start. He held the Lookouts (32-26) to just one first-inning run on five hits in a six-inning start. Castillo has given up two earned runs or fewer in each of his last eight outings, dating back to April 26.
The BayBears (22-36) have delivered 11 consecutive two-out runs. After scoring three in the eighth inning and two in the ninth Tuesday, Mobile added five in the first and two in the fifth Wednesday, all coming with two outs in each frame.
The BayBears wrap up the five-game road series against Chattanooga Thursday at 6:15 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander (1-3, 3.40 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Johendí Jiminian (1-2, 3.93 ERA) for the Lookouts.
