SAN ANTONIO - Jake Hager homered twice as the San Antonio Flying Chanclas swept Thursday's doubleheader over the Oklahoma City Dodgers. The Flying Chanclas came from behind to take game one 8-3 and blanked the Dodgers 3-0 in the nightcap.
The Missions overcame a three-run deficit in game one by plating a run in the fifth and seven in the sixth to take game one 8-3. Oklahoma City took the lead by putting up three runs in the second inning off Missions starter Bubba Derby. Nate Orf drilled a solo shot in the fifth off the batter's eye in straightaway center field to put the Missions on the board.
San Antonio then took the lead in the sixth inning as they erupted for seven runs highlighted by a solo home run from Cory Spangenberg and a two-run blast from Jake Hager.
Burch Smith continued his stellar start to the season with 5 1/3 shutout frames in game two of Thursday's twin bill. The right-hander yielded just two hits and one walk on the night while fanning five to improve to 3-0 on the season.
The Missions and Dodgers continue their five-game series Friday night at Wolff Stadium. Right-hander Zack Brown (0-2, 4.37) is scheduled to start for the Missions against left-hander Rob Zastryzny (0-1, 5.02) for the Sounds. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
