Fort Myers’ Secures Winning Season With Doubleheader Split Against Bradenton

FORT MYERS, Fla. (August 26, 2026) - The Fort Myers Mighty Mussels split their doubleheader against the Bradenton Marauders on Wednesday at Lee Health Sports Complex.

With their shutout victory in game two over Bradenton (52-68, 21-34), Fort Myers (66-55, 29-27) secured its fifth winning season in six campaigns since the franchise switched to Single-A. With one game canceled, the maximum number of games played this season will be 131.

The shutout was the ninth of the season, tying Fort Myers for the most shoutouts in the Florida State League.

With a stolen base in each end of the doubleheader, the Mussels have now swiped a bag in 16 consecutive games, the third longest streak in the FSL this season. They trail their own 17-game streak in May-June and a 20-game streak from Tampa in May for the longest streak in the league this season.

The current streak is the longest active streak among all 120 full-season MiLB affiliates.

Game One (BRD 10 - FTM 3 | 7 innings)

Fort Myers’ starter Jui-Chieh Lin (0-1) gave up five runs in the first inning as Bradenton took the early advantage. Lin was unable to record an out in his professional debut, allowing all seven batters he faced to reach base.

Jackson Sleeper came in and recorded all three outs in the first. He ended up giving up two runs in two innings of work.

Jake Covey was the second man out of the bullpen in game one. Covey worked 3.2 innings, giving up two earned runs.

Fort Myers got on the scoreboard with three runs in the bottom of the fifth against Zander Mueth. Jimmy Keenan scored on a wild pitch, while Colby Turner and Ramiro Dominguez each recorded two-out RBI singles.

Hendry Chivilli recorded the final four outs for Fort Myers, but Bradenton hung on for the win.

Game Two (FTM 1 - BRD 0 | 7 innings)

Three Mussels’ pitchers combined to allow just one hit in the second game of the day. The shutout victory was the first since June 6 in Lakeland.

Double-A rehabber Luis Quinones began his rehab assignment by making the start in game two of the doubleheader. He worked around a two-out walk and struck out two Marauders.

Melvin Rodriguez relieved him in the second, striking out seven over 3.2 innings of work. The seven strikeouts were the most for Rodriguez in his six FSL appearances and were one off matching a career-high set in the Florida Complex League on July 11.

Brian Strange (1-0) came on with two outs in the fifth and stranded two baserunners to keep the game tied.

Fort Myers had a runner aboard in each of the first four innings, but each frame that runner made an unforced out on the base paths as Irwin Ramirez (0-4) faced the minimum through four.

The Mussels finally broke through in the fifth. After Jimmy Keenan walked, he later scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0.

Strange retired the final seven men he faced to earn his first professional win.

Fort Myers is now 8-6 in doubleheaders and 3-3 at home.
