Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson, Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and catcher Alejandro Kirk and Chicago Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd will take part in the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game, taking place on Tuesday, July 15, at Truist Park in Atlanta.
Wilson, who played 23 games for the Lugnuts in 2023, is second in the Major Leagues with a .335 batting average and 111 base hits, trailing only the Yankees' Aaron Judge. He becomes the second rookie starting shortstop in All-Star Game history, joining Ron Hansen in 1960.
Guerrero, who first played in Lansing as a 17-year-old in the 2016 Crosstown Showdown before dominating the Midwest League as an 18-year-old in 2017, is 4th in the American League in walks (53), tied for 5th in runs scored (55) and 6th in OBP (.384). This is his fifth consecutive All-Star Game appearance.
Kirk, an early-season standout in Lansing in 2019, makes his second All-Star Game. Considered one of the best defensive catchers in baseball, he currently ranks 7th in the American League with a .300 batting average.
Boyd, a member of the 2013 Lugnuts, is tied for 2nd in the National League in wins (9), 3rd in ERA (2.52) and 6th in WHIP (1.07), earning his first All-Star appearance. This is his 11th season in the Majors, and the Cubs are his fifth team.
The quartet of All-Stars join a pair of prospects in representing Lansing in Atlanta: third baseman Tommy White and 2025 Opening Day starter Gage Jump will participate in Saturday's All-Star Futures Game at 4 p.m., the sole prospects for the Athletics organization invited to the showcase exhibition. The honor connects White with Guerrero as active Lugnuts third basemen to take part in the Futures Game.
The Lugnuts are on the road from July 8-13 at Great Lakes, next returning home from July 18-20 vs. West Michigan. For ticket information, call 517-485-4500 or visit the stadium box office.
