Four Homers Power Four-Run Comeback in 5-4 Win

Bowie, MD – The Portland Sea Dogs (30-30)(65-63) scored four unanswered runs from the seventh inning onwards to take down the Chesapeake Baysox (33-26)(62-65) 5-4 on Thursday night, their first win of the week.
The Sea Dogs hit four home runs, all solo, to power their comeback. Henry Godbout drove two over the wall for his first career multi-home run game. Brooks Brannon hit his twenty-first of the season off his former teammate, RHP Anthony Eyanson. Max Ferguson rounded out the group with his second in his last two games. RHP Max Carlson dealt two perfect innings in relief.
Chesapeake wasted no time getting on the board. Vance Honeycutt and Ethan Anderson singled before Anderson De Los Santos drove in Honeycutt with a double. Godbout threw out Anderson at the plate to prevent another run from scoring.
Brannon homered to tie the game in the top of the second.
The Baysox responded immediately in the bottom half. Colin Tuft ripped a solo home run. Fernando Peguero and Griff O’Ferrall singled to put runners on base. Honeycutt and Anderson each drove in a run with singles, extending the lead to 4-1.
After four scoreless innings, Chesapeake went to the bullpen in the top of the seventh. Godbout and Ferguson hit back-to-back homers, pulling the Sea Dogs within one run.
Tyler McDonough led off the eighth inning with a double. He eventually scored on a Gonzales sacrifice fly, as the Sea Dogs tied it 4-4.
It took one pitch in the ninth inning for Godbout to put Portland in the lead with his second home run of the night.
After allowing two baserunners in the ninth inning, RHP Caleb Bolden forced a ground ball into a game-ending double play, securing the comeback win to earn his second save of the season.
RHP Max Carlson (5-2, 4.36 ERA) earned the win with two perfect innings and a pair of strikeouts. LHP Micah Ashman (2-2, 1.90 ERA) shouldered the loss, allowing one run on two hits, including Godbout’s second home run.
Tomorrow, the series continues, with RHP Morgan McSweeney (1-0, 8.78 ERA) set to face RHP JT Quinn (1-0, 3.46 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm at Prince George’s Stadium.
