Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, waged an uphill battle in Chattanooga on Tuesday and fought all the way to the top, earning a 7-5 victory at AT&T Field.

The Generals (50-40) beat the Lookouts (44-45) for the fifth straight time, aided by a late surge against the Chattanooga bullpen.
Trailing 4-2 entering the seventh inning, Jackson got a run back in the top of the seventh after a Mark Karaviotis RBI double. In the eighth, Lookouts closer Juan Martinez (2-2, 2.12 ERA) allowed a pair of singles Ramon Hernandez and Jazz Chisholm to start the frame, followed by a walk issued to Jeffrey Baez that loaded the bases. With Mark Karaviotis at the plate, Martinez uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Hernandez to score the game-tying run from third base, evening things at 4-4 with Chisholm and Baez each advancing a base. On the next pitch, Karaviotis socked a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Chisholm to score, pushing the Generals into the lead at 5-4. Generals manager Blake Lalli tapped Dominic Miroglio to pinch-hit in the pitcher's slot, and Miroglio did his job, mashing a two-run homer to left field to give the Generals insurance at 7-4.
After the Jackson outburst, Matt Brill conceded a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth that brought the Lookouts within two runs. Brill got through the rest of the inning without incident, giving Miguel Aguilar (S, 1) the chance to lock down his second career save in a four-batter ninth inning. Aguilar's save was his first since 2013, and it helped the Generals tie season-best marks in regards to both record (ten games over .500) and winning streak (five in a row). Bryan Valdez (4-3, 4.15 ERA) got the win by being the pitcher of record at the time of Miroglio's homer. He contributed a scoreless inning in relief.
In his first action after playing in the MLB Futures Game, Daulton Varsho managed a pair of hits and two runs scored, while Chisholm collected two hits, Baez scored twice, and Karaviotis drove in two runs. The Generals will return home and get a day off before hosting the streaking Birmingham Barons (8-2 in their last ten games) on Thursday night for a six-game series.
