ZEBULON, N.C. - Former Carolina Mudcats pitcher Freddy Peralta has been called up to the Milwaukee Brewers and will make his Major League Baseball debut today when he starts at Coors Field in Denver, CO against the Colorado Rockies at 3:10 PM ET. Peralta pitched for the Mudcats during the 2017 season and was a Carolina League All-Star. 

Peralta is the first former Mudcats player to receive a promotion to Major League Baseball this season. He is also the first former Mudcats player to debut with the Brewers since Carolina became Milwaukee's Class-A Advanced affiliate before the 2017 season.
Peralta, 21, had been with Triple-A Colorado Springs before receiving his call up to the big leagues. While with Triple-A Colorado Springs, Peralta had pitched to a 3.63 ERA while going 5-1 with 46 strikeouts and 17 walks over 34.2 innings pitched.

The Dominican Republic born Peralta began the 2017 season with the Mudcats before later receiving a mid-season promotion to Double-A Biloxi. While with the Mudcats, Peralta totaled a staggering 78 strikeouts over 56.1 innings, 12 games and eight starts. He had also owned a Carolina League best 12.46 SO/9ip ratio when Milwaukee promoted him to Double-A last season. In all, Peralta went 1-3 with a 3.04 ERA, .188 average against and 1.24 WHIP with the Mudcats last season and was a mid-season Carolina League All-Star.
Peralta later made his Biloxi debut on June 25, 2017 versus Mississippi where he totaled nine strikeouts in just three and 2/3 innings pitched. He went on to strikeout 10 batters over five innings in his next start in Birmingham and ended up with a 12.86 SO/9ip ratio over the length of his Double-A tenure. Peralta struck out 91 (tied for the most in the Southern League's second half) and went 2-5 with a 2.26 ERA over 13 games and 11 starts with the Shuckers last season. 
Overall, Peralta went a combined 3-8 while pitching to a 2.63 ERA over 25 games, 19 starts and 120.0 innings between High-A Carolina and Double-A Biloxi last season. He also totaled 169 strikeouts (tied for the seventh most in MiLB last season) and a 1.16 WHIP overall.
