Frisco tamped down by Midland in 9-1 defeat

FRISCO, Texas (August 5, 2026) - The Frisco RoughRiders dropped their Wednesday night game to the Midland RockHounds 9-1 from Momentum Bank Ballpark, evening the series at 1-1.

Frisco (19-16, 58-45) starter D.J. McCarty (0-2) surrendered an early Midland (16-19, 48-55) run in the first before a three-run Euribiel Angeles home run in the third made it 4-0.

The RockHounds added on with three more runs in the sixth on two RBI singles and an RBI groundout before single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to make it 9-0.

Keith Jones II put the Riders on the board with an RBI double in the eighth inning, but it was not enough in the 9-1 loss.

Jamie Arnold (5-5) threw 5.2 innings of shutout baseball in his start for Midland, punching out a career-best nine.

Notes to Know:

• Arturo Disla went 3-for-4 with a double.

• Cole Stasio threw 2.0 scoreless frames for the bullpen for Frisco.

• With an Amarillo win, the Riders have fallen out of first place in the Texas League South second half standings for the first time since July 18th.

The RoughRiders meet the RockHounds for game three of the series at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 6th in Midland. LHP Dylan MacLean (7-2, 4.52) goes for Frisco against RHP Nathan Dettmer (0-2, 8.68).
