PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of July 17th through July 23rd.

Hartford Yard Goats third baseman Josh Fuentes has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of July 17th-July 23rd. The 24-year old batted .519 (14-for-27) with three doubles, two triples, two home runs, 10 RBIs, six runs scored, four walks, and a 1.000 slugging percentage in eight games for the Yard Goats last week. Fuentes, who is a native of Rancho Santo Margarita, California, had at least one hit in seven of the eight games he played in last week and collected multiple hits in six of those games, including going 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs in a 12-8 win over Bowie on Wednesday afternoon. The 6'2", 215 lb. slugger led all Eastern League players in batting average (.519), hits (14), triples (2), total bases (27), extra-base hits (7), slugging percentage (1.000), and OPS (1.594). He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in RBIs (10-2nd), on-base percentage (.594-2nd), doubles (3-tied 3rd), home runs (2-tied 4th), and runs scored (6-tied 6th). Josh, who is hitting .253 with nine home runs and 51 RBIs in 93 games in his Double-A debut for the Yard Goats this season, was signed by the Colorado Rockies as a non-drafted free agent on June 11, 2014 after batting .365 during his junior season at Missouri Baptist University.

P.J. Conlon, a left-handed starting pitcher for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 17th-July 23rd. The 5'11", 192 lb. hurler started a pair of games for the Rumble Ponies last week and had a record of 2-0 with 13 strikeouts and a 0.68 ERA. Conlon, who is a native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, made his first start of the week on Tuesday against the visiting Akron RubberDucks and threw a complete game in Binghamton's 13-0 victory. He gave up three hits while striking out eight batters and walking two over seven innings of work. P.J. made his second start on Sunday at Harrisburg and gave up one run over 6.1 innings to earn his second win of the week in Binghamton's 3-1 victory. He gave up six hits while striking out five batters and walking one. The 23-year old led all Eastern League pitchers in innings pitched (13.1) last week and tied for the lead in wins (2), complete games (1), and shutouts (1). He also ranked among the weekly leaders in strikeouts (13-2nd), ERA (0.68-6th), and WHIP (0.90-tied 9th). P.J., who also won the Pitcher of the Week award for the period of May 1st-May 7th earlier this season, was selected by the New York Mets in the 13th round of the 2015 draft out of the University of San Diego.
