Hernandez, Pigs walk-off vs. Pawtucket

Follow @IronPigsThe Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-28) got a much-needed victory on Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park as they defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox (26-32) 4-3. Jan Hernandez hit a walk-off two run double off Jenrry Mejia (2-4) in the bottom of the ninth inning.


The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-28) got a much-needed victory on Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park as they defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox (26-32) 4-3. Jan Hernandez hit a walk-off two run double off Jenrry Mejia (2-4) in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Gorkys Hernández led off the game with a home run off Drew Anderson. The IronPigs tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. Erasmo Ramírez issued a walk to Lane Adams to begin the inning. Nick Williams hit an RBI triple to score Adams with one out in the inning.  
The PawSox would take a 2-1 lead against Anderson in the top of the third inning as Chad De La Guerra homered for the third time this season. Lehigh Valley answered with a run against Ramirez in the bottom of the fourth inning as Ali Castillo hit an RBI single to score Deivy Grullon to tie the game at 2-2. 
Marco Hernández scored on a double-play groundball in the top of the fifth inning that put Pawtucket ahead 3-2 against Alexis Rivero. Rivero pitched two innings in relief before Seth McGarry pitched two scoreless innings to follow him.  
Tom Windle (5-0) earned the win as he pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
