Dalis' Birthday Bash Ignites Grizzlies Behind Parker's Strong Outing

ONTARIO, Calif. – Wilder Dalis’ 3-run home run on his birthday sent the party into full gear as the newest three position players all added their first Single-A hits as the Fresno Grizzlies pounded out 15 hits and scored in five different innings to back starter Brady Parker and rout the Ontario Tower Buzzers 12-2 Thursday night at ONT Field.
Dalis's three-run homer highlighted a four-run third inning that put Fresno in control early, and the Grizzlies tacked on three more in the eighth and four in the ninth to turn a tight game into a laugher.
The Grizzlies threatened immediately, as Cristian Arguelles doubled with two outs in the first for his first Grizzlies knock, but had to wait until the third to cash in.
Landyn Vidourek and Ashly Andujar led off with back-to-back singles, before a one-ou Arguelles double brought home Vidourek before Dalis turned around a Jhonny Jimenez pitch 450 feet— the first batter Jimenez faced after relieving Jholbran Herder — for a three-run homer to the resturaunt under construction in right field, scoring Andujar and Arguelles and staking Fresno to a 4-0 lead.
Ontario got on the board with an unearned run in the fifth. Two Grizzlies errors cost Parker his only blemish, cutting the deficit to 4-1.
The Grizzlies answered in the seventh. Andujar's infield single was followed by an Ontario fielding error that sent him to second, and Hernandez lined a single to right — extended into a double by another throwing error — to drive him in and make it 5-1.
Fresno blew the game open in the eighth. Ronny Ugarte walked and Juan Castillo was hit by a pitch before Vidourek doubled home Ugarte.
A wild pitch scored Castillo, and Andujar's groundout brought home Vidourek to make it 8-1.
An RBI double for Ontario in the bottom half was the Tower Buzzers' only answer, trimming the margin to 8-2.
Fresno tacked on four more in the ninth to put the game away.
Ugarte and Castillo reached to open the inning, and after a Vidourek walk loaded the bases, Hernandez lifted a sacrifice fly to score Ugarte.
Arguelles, Dalis and Derek Bernard each singled in a run to cap the frame and set the final margin at 12-2.
Dalis finished 2-for-6 with the homer and four RBIs, while Arguelles went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a single and two RBIs.
Vidourek reached base three times against his former team — a single, a double and a walk — scored three runs and drove in a run with his double, and Ugarte and Andujar each scored twice. Fresno collected 15 hits and drew six walks, going 7-for-20 with runners in scoring position while stranding 12 runners of its own.
Brady Parker earned the win, allowing just one unearned run on two hits over five innings while striking out seven.
Grif Hughes worked the final four innings for the save, allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven of his own.
Fresno's pitching staff combined for 14 strikeouts and held Ontario to six hits despite some shaky defense behind them — the Grizzlies committed five errors, though none proved costly given the final margin.
The win moved Fresno to 55-44 and 19-14 in the 2nd half, pulling them back into a three-way tie for first in the North with San Jose and Stockton.
